Vienna, Austria-based artist Bogi Fabian uses glow-in-the-dark and black light-reactive paints to transform rooms into otherworldly getaways in distant galaxies, jungles, caves or underwater. While some of Fabian’s murals are partially visible when the lights are on, the walls and floors of some of her painted rooms appear completely blank until the lights go out. In the dark the walls and floors come alive with dreamy glowing colors.
“I am trying to create dreamful atmospheres, paint walls and floors and manage to enlighten my art with and without a source of energy.
Thus, the spectator can experience the result in the daylight as well as in the dark, and in that way enjoy it in all its facets. My goal is to create unique spaces and rooms giving them an identity and a soul, where relaxing and living become an experience.”
In addition to her dazzling glow-in-the-dark murals, Fabian also works with bodypainting and glowing ceramics. To check out more of her dreamy artwork visit Bogi Fabian’s website and Facebook page.

The infamous scene where Marlene Dietrich kisses another woman – which was added to the script at Dietrich’s suggestion – was saved from being cut by the censors by Dietrich herself. She came up with the idea of taking a flower from the woman before kissing her and then giving the flower to Gary Cooper, explaining that if the censors cut the kiss the appearance of the flower would make no sense.
This was not the only thing that was controversial at the time of release (1930). She also wore a tuxedo designed for a man in this scene.

Portrait of Islan Nettles Last year Islan Nettles was beaten to death outside a police service area in New York. Here murderer was charged with a misdemeanor for assault. Transgender women face extreme rates of discrimination, and for trans women of colour that often comes in the form of violence. The murder rate for trans women of colour is insanely high compared to the rest of the general population, and it is not uncommon that the murderers go free. This is outrageous. Its a sad part of our society, and needs to be dealt with in some way.
